Suicide - We need to talk
A powerful session with Professor Louis Appleby CBE and Danny Sculthorpe
Thank you to everyone who attended our AGM on Friday 15 November - it was a huge success.
Mayor of Trafford, Councillor Rob Chilton opened the proceedings with a heartfelt address.
Our keynote speakers Professor Louis Appleby (CBE) and Danny Sculthorpe gave compelling presentations.
Professor Appleby, who leads the National Suicide Prevention Strategy for England, gave a lecture on 'The National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Safety in Mental Health'.
Danny Sculthorpe, former professional Rugby League player, followed this with his inspirational personal story about being forced into retirement due to serious injury and how he courageously came through the other side after battling with his mental health.
Chair of Trustees Rosalind Allison-Calvert and Chief Executive Officer Jo Allen spoke about the impact of CFC's work in the local community and wider Greater Manchester area, and about our hopes for the future.
Sarah Barker, CFC Children's Services Manager introduced the growing work CFC does with children and young people in schools and colleges. It was fantastic to hear directly from St Ambrose College about how the boys at the college have embraced the counselling service.
