Dig In For

The Café In The Park @ CFC Altrincham

Transforming the Café's outdoor space

In June 2018 we launched a Crowdfunding campaign in support of our plans to improve access to our community café, The Café in the Park. In July we were pleased to announce we raised the minimum amount needed for success. Our plans have finally been put into action in 2019 with building work now complete. Watch this space for details about a formal opening but in the meantime please enjoy easier access direct from Mayors Road and the small playground in Stamford Park. Thanks to everyone that has contributed to this and we look forward to seeing you in the café. Please read more about the development below.

Dig for the café

The Café in the Park is a wonderful indoor space for the local community to meet and enjoy a chat with a drink or something to eat.

However, access to the café from the park and the street was far from perfect so in the summer of 2018 we successfully crowdfunded £6,000 to:

  • Demolish a redundant prefabricated outbuilding

  • Build a path from the street to the café entrance

  • Replace damaged surfacing to improve accessibility

  • Replace damaged and oppressive chainlink fencing facing the park with low wooden alternative

From the beginning of 2019, work commenced. The shed was demolished, preparatory groundwork completed and a beautiful new patio laid, edged with a picket fence. The garden is now complete.

We would still like to enhance things further with an ice cream parlour (who wouldn't!). To make a contribution, please visit our donating page.
