Free counselling set to end
The Counselling & Family Centre is an independent charity with no funding from the National Health Service nor the local authority, Trafford Metropolitan Council. Over the past few years we have been fortunate enough to be able to offer free and subsidised counselling to lower income clients only through our own fundraising and via grants we have been successful in applying for.
We are aware many of our clients are on the waiting list for statutory mental health services and we have been pleased to offer help at a time when people most need it. However, we are currently receiving an unprecedented demand for our counselling services at a time when our funding has been hit significantly.
Sadly, we are no longer able to continue to offer free counselling to adult individual clients and it is with a heavy heart we are withdrawing this option for all adult individual clients who register with our service after 9.00am Monday 16 March 2020. Those on lower incomes can still access subsidised counselling.
What are the new charges ?
Clients who register for counselling after 9:00am Monday 16 March 2020 will pay as follows:
* For over 18s and counselling taking place at CFC in Altrincham. For some clients at the Broomwood Centre, the Kath Locke Centre and Old Trafford Wellbeing Centre, a free assessment followed by 8 free counselling sessions scheme still applies due to additional funding.
** We accept evidence of these means-tested benefits (MTBs)
*** Existing clients
All clients in ongoing counselling, or on the waiting list for counselling since before 16 March 2020 will continue with their existing or agreed plans. As per the contract, any price increases are held for 6 months from 16 March 2020 for clients whose therapy has begun.
