The Friday Club has some good news
Friday Club Funding Success
£1,000 National Lottery Award Made
Jennie Crean, Friday Club organiser tells us about their recent funding success:
The Friday Club recently applied to the National Lottery for funding as part of their 25 year celebrations for small community projects.
In our bid we outlined how we would use the £1,000 grant for the Friday Club to support the group of older people who attend on a regular basis.
Amongst other things, we described how the group appreciate the welcoming and informal atmosphere, whilst enjoying the services of our community café – The Café in the Park.
We were then delighted to receive a donation. The grant money will be used to subsidise more of our highly successful and appreciated trips to local attractions. The main financial consideration is transport. As we have 2 wheelchair users, we need to hire specialised mini buses which are very expensive.
We are planning a trip to The Blue Planet Aquarium near Cheshire Oaks, a return trip to Chester Zoo and a further trip to the seaside in July. These trips have been amazing in the past - a welcome day out with enjoyable banter and the amazing packed lunches provided by Pauline, our Café Manager.
We are so glad that the National Lottery funding will allow us to continue with these adventures!
