Grant from St James's Place
Supporting our mission to create a more inclusive and accessible society for children and young people
The Counselling & Family Centre Receives Grant from St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation to Expand Children & Young People’s Services
The Counselling & Family Centre (CFC) is delighted to announce that it has received a grant from the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation, supporting our mission to create a more inclusive and accessible society for children and young people facing significant barriers in their lives.
The Foundation partners with charities across the UK that support vulnerable young people under the age of 25 who are experiencing physical, social, or economic disadvantage. This grant reflects a shared commitment to improving wellbeing, tackling inequality, and ensuring that young people have access to the support they need to thrive.
Strengthening Support for Children and Young People
The funding will enable CFC to continue and enhance its Children & Young People (CYP) services, which provide vital emotional and psychological support to young people who are struggling with their mental health, family difficulties, trauma, anxiety, or overwhelming social pressures.
This grant will directly support:
• Increased access to counselling
Allowing children and young people from low-income households to access free high-quality therapeutic support at the time they need it most.
• Reduced waiting times
Helping children and young people access help sooner, preventing issues from escalating.
• Specialist interventions
Providing targeted support for children experiencing trauma, family breakdown, neglect, or significant disadvantage.
• Outreach and engagement
Reaching young people who may not otherwise access mental health support, helping them feel safe enough to talk.
• A more inclusive, accessible service
Strengthening our ability to support young people from diverse backgrounds, including those facing social or economic hardship.
A Shared Commitment to Brighter Futures
Sarah Barker, Children's Services Manager at CFC, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation for this generous grant. Their support will make a real and lasting difference to the lives of young people who are facing immense challenges. Every child deserves to be heard, understood, and supported, and this funding brings us closer to making that a reality.”
